    Google now showing product schema rich snippets in image search results

    Google is now displaying rich snippets via product schema markup in the Google Image Search results. If you do a Google image search on a smartphone and click on a result that is product related, it may show the rich snippets.

    Here is an example image search result, after you click on the image to display the larger photo:

    In addition, Google just updated the product schema developer documents to add that it now supports image search results. The image search mentions in this text was not there a few days ago:

    Add markup to your product pages so Google can provide detailed product information in rich Search results – including Image Search. Users can see price, availability, and review ratings right on Search results.

    Using markup to enable rich product results lets you attract potential buyers while they are searching for items to buy on Google or images that include products you sell. Maintain the accuracy and freshness of your product information, so your customers find the relevant, current items they’re looking for.

    Aaron Bradley was the first to spot this and he told me this is a “fairly significant” change to the product schema.
